Preservation Houston Honors Architectural and Cultural Legacy

Houston sometimes gets a bad rap for not restoring and celebrating its history. That’s why we are so excited to be pitching in for the Villa de Luxe Designer Showcase sponsored by Luxe Interiors + Design™ magazine the first three weekends of February – that’s this weekend!

The event, at One Longfellow Lane, will kick-off Friday with Villa de Luxe Opening Night Soiree at the Speakeasy [tickets $250], unveiling the transformation of a stunning 1920s-era Venetian Revival-style estate in Shadyside, one of Houston’s oldest and most exclusive neighborhoods. Award-winning interior designers and Preservation Houston board members Jane-Page Crump and Bill Stubbs are co-chairs for the entire event. We were lucky enough to work with Jane-Page Design Group and provide a sectional for one of the rooms. Of course, we’ll also be at the Opening Night Soiree and hope to see you, too! Continue reading

New Designs for 2013: Lyndon Furniture

This post originally appeared on Lyndon Furniture’s blog. To read the full post, please visit: http://lyndon.com/blog/2012/12/new-designs-for-2013/

The R&D office stands bare. The shipping company just pulled away, hauling off this year’s one-off prototypes to new homes. As the 2012 design period comes to an end, the new products are added to the catalog and website.

Help us welcome in 2013 by celebrating our latest and greatest pieces.

Brand new to Lyndon this year is the Newfane Collection. If you’ve been following this blog you’ll know that we began this style as a tribute to how mid-century modern design shaped today’s contemporary furniture. Click here to read more. The Newfane stands upon splayed, round taper legs, which connect seamlessly but yield great strength and stability.

We always look forward to new designs from our friends. This year we are particularly excited about what’s next. Who is on your watch list for new designs?

A Designer’s Perspective: Vanguard Furniture

We follow lots of blogs on design and furniture. And we highly recommend you read designer Donna Vining’s. This post originally appeared there. It was such a great piece, we just had to share it with you! Read the original post in it’s entirety here.

Vanguard is a beautifully designed high-end furniture line that has been in the business for over 40 years. They are a fashion-driven company with a mission to lead the furnishing world in style, value, and quality.

Vanguard has many collections in the company, two of which are with impact designers, Michael Weiss and Thom Filicia. Each collection is has a distinct style, but with all 7 collections, Vanguard has pieces for all design styles. Another collection Vanguard offers is the ‘Make it Yours‘, which allows you some custom ability, ranging from case goods to upholstery. To see more of their collections, click Here.

Also, Vanguard is very aware of doing their part for our environment. Their green initiative recycles 95% of all manufacturing waste, recycle paper, fabric scraps, metal, wood scrap, plastic and corrugated products. Vanguard is a founding member of Sustainable Furniture Council. I’m always happy to hear about furniture companies doing their part to help our environment.
